My wife and I have known Mr. Sweeney for approximately four years now. Our first encounter with him was when he was recommended by a friend as a house painter. Wewere starting to clean up our old house to ready it for sale. Ralph came over and looked at our house which had been painted about 8 years earlier and said that it didn’t need to be repainted and that the black coloring which was starting to show was from mildew on the wood siding. He talked his way out of a couple of thousands of dollars of housepainting and sold us on a pressure washing job which cost only about $500. The house looked beautiful!

When we bought our new house the following year, we again called Ralph and asked him to give us an estimate for removing all the wallpaper in the house and repainting the entire inside, before we moved our furniture in. Ralph is extremely conscientious and trustworthy. We were able to give him access to the house to get the work done without needing to be present while the work was performed. This allowed us to concentrate on selling our old house, packing up, and arranging for getting our furniture moved in. A problem arose when the “popcorn” style ceiling started to fall off as soon as it was touched by a paint brush. We wound up needing to remove the popcorn finish from all of the ceilings in the house and re-spackling them to a smooth finish. This was a major chore, combined with a major cleanup afterward to address the mountains of dust created. Even with this major potential delay, Ralph completed the work on time to coincide with the delivery of our furniture.

The following year, I again called Ralph and asked him to come and refinish our deck, which had been painted at one time and was severely chipping. Ralph sanded off the old finish, and re-stained the deck in a couple of days and it looked great as well.

We again used Ralph this past year to repaint our entry way and foyer area which had sustained water damage and required replacement of a number of skylights. Again he was helpful and extremely responsive. We followed up that work with asking him to have the exterior of the new house painted as well, once the construction work on thesklight replacement was complete; again we were extremely satisfied.

Therefore, we have used Ralph Sweeney now for four years straight in doing various painting (and some rebuilding) projects and have been very pleased with his work, his work ethic, his sense of doing it right the first time, his responsiveness, his fairness, his honesty and his friendliness. It is not often that one finds these qualities in contractors these days. I already know that I will have another project coming up this year and will call on Ralph again to get it done.

We whole-heartedly would recommend him for any painting and minor construction projects that you may be considering.
